šŸ•µšŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø Where is Baby?

Update October 26th @ 2:30PM:

I've tried to write about 10 updates between the lastā€“which was somehow almost 24 hours agoā€“and now, but was sidetracked every time. I'm currently stealing a bit of the already fairly non-existent sleep time I have to get this one out (you know, that time you have after feeding, changing diapers, swaddling (I'm real slow), signing whatever the heck Bob from registration needs, getting the side eye from Nancy for still not getting around to filling out the birth certificate paperwork, and so on until you get to repeat the process again in 2 hours).

Despite this whole thing being ridiculously challenging everyone is healthy and we couldn't be more excited to welcome Zoe Eloise Ledsworth into this world. She was born October 25th at 7:27PM; weighing 6 pounds, 8.6 ounces; length of 19.5 inches. She is perfect.

Zoe swaddled (poorly) sleeping in her hospital bassinet.

I have so much more I'd like to shareā€“the emotional wreck I became after seeing my baby for the first time, just how awful hospital food can be, and how Sam can look this good after giving birth:

One would have thought I was the one that had given birth:

Thanks all for your well wishes and supporting us through this whole thing. We are going to take some time to rest and recover. We are looking forward to getting home sometime tomorrow.

Update October 25th @ 4:56PM:

The last 6 hours have been a bit of a whirlwindā€”Sam started to stall progress so we introduced Pitocin to help things get going. Fairly quickly after the pain became pretty severe so we elected an epidural. Not but 15 minutes after starting the epidural her water broke. 6-7cm dilated and lots of pressure, but pain is tolerable. Iā€™m hopeful the next update will be introducing our sweet baby girl to the world! ā˜ŗļø

Update October 25th @ 10:22AM:

We have been admitted to the hospital! After a bit of a rough night, Sam is about 4cm dilated and feel quite a bit better. Now we just wait to see if she can progress on her own or if we will need to introduce something like Pitocin to help keep things moving along.

Update October 25th @ 1:45AM:

We made it to the hospital. I think the next step is an examination to make sure Sam is far enough along to be admitted.

Update October 24th @ 9:00PM:

Ah! Sam's contractions have progressively gotten shorter this evening and are fairly consistent at 10 minutes apart. There is a good chance that we will be headed to the hospital sometime tonight or early morning. I'm going to try to get a bit of sleep so I can be fresh for the drive. Wish us luck!

Update October 24th @ 3:19PM:

We are home from our appointment! Sam and baby are healthy, so all we have to do now is wait. Sheā€™s about 60% effaced, and 1cm dilated. Contractions arenā€™t quite frequent enough yet. The good news is that Sam can labor at home. The doc did put in the order for induction if labor hasnā€™t progressed enough, though, with the recommendation that we go in at 41 weeks (Thursday). But for now itā€™s a waiting game between seeing if labor will progress naturally vs when the hospital calls to say they have a spot open for us.

For those who donā€™t know, Samā€™s pregnancy, while relatively smooth, has been riddled with insomnia, and itā€™s only gotten worse. Rest assured that while she isnā€™t as responsive or social, sheā€™s hanging in there. In the meantime, Iā€™ll continue to keep you all posted here when something noteworthy happens!

Update October 24th @ 8:29AM:

Hey! We are having some contractions, but they're not quite regular yet. Baby might come out on her own after all. More to come.

Update October 23rd @ 8:34PM:

No baby yet.

We have an afternoon appointment for Monday, October 24th to make sure baby is still healthy and safe to be in the womb. Weā€™re pretty sure that the appointment will end with us scheduling an induction date for later in the week.

Sam is pretty tired and uncomfortable at this pointā€“but still championing along! I'm really proud of her. šŸ˜Š

The check-ins and well wishes are super appreciated! But! As it turns out, answering everyone individually has become quite the feat itself. šŸ˜… To cut down on my anxiety and allow me to be more present with Sam I plan on posting updates right here for everyone. As soon as we know more, we will be sure to update everyone!
